SOCIETAL MIND
The society and the media always project people who live in beach houses, drive latest cars, wear clothes from the runway, designers sunglasses, perfumes as being happy. They portray tall, slim ladies with pointed nose, slender, curvy bodies, flawless skin, smooth and shiny hair as being happy. They depict tall men with six packs, broad shoulders, pure white teeth, good paying jobs as being happy. They make you feel like you have limited rights to be happy because you don't fit in a particular lifestyle. Little wonder why most people resort to cosmetic surgery and fake lifestyle just so they can be perceived as being happy, even if they are not. Happiness is not measured in the number of possession, it is measured in the depth of contentment. A lot of rich people, celebrities, role models, are not as happy as a man in his hut with his warm, loving family. While you are wishing you would switch places with someone richer and more famous, that someone may just be wishing to be you. Folks say "big man, big trouble." A lot of people postpone happiness till when they are married, own a beach house, gain admission into college, build a successful career, fame, an attractive body etc. They believe happiness is for people who have arrived, who are successful and outstanding. Their understanding of being successful robs them of life's greatest essence, happiness. Happiness is not merely a price for achievement, it is a motivator for achievement. You don't get a thing to get happy, you get happy about getting a thing. It is important that you understand the role of happiness in the pursuit of your goals. Anything you are happy about acquiring, comes faster because, through happiness, you release a lot of positive energy, enough to make your dreams come true. Without happiness, nothing can be easily accomplished. Happiness is a propelling force to the actualization of your goals. So whoever, whatever, wherever, and however you are, you need and deserve to be happy. Unhappiness is not as a result of the lack of this or that. Unhappiness is as a result of attempting to be what and who you are not, engaging in things not because they bring out the best in you, but because everyone seems to be doing them. Fake ness is sadness. At all times and places, be yourself. You don't need to look, talk, act, dress, walk or possess a certain thing in order to be happy. All you need is to be contented in what you have, how you are, where you are and positively move your your life.
